Artist statement
Sarah Nõmm (1998) is an artist based in Tallinn who works mainly in the fields of sculpture, installation, video, and performance. In her work, she deals with the woman's body and the surrounding spaces where women's social, mental and physical situations are manifested. Her works are often based on personal experience and look at bodily themes through folk religions, myths, taboos, and rituals in everyday life, while analyzing traditional customs and gender inequality. she uses traditional handicraft activities - spinning, felting and weaving on looms - to draw attention to the connection between the practices and the modern world, both in terms of context and technique.
