Diaries of a Bruised Princess invites visitors into a space of personal narratives, where playfulness meets the intrinsic human yearning for care. Across nine works, the exhibition moves through the liminal zone between childhood and adulthood, foregrounding mental health, identity formation, and the enduring desire to experience care in every role, whether assumed or imposed.
Play is central: as children we rehearse hopes and dreams; in adulthood, “make-believe” becomes a safeguard for secret thoughts and desires. The distance between a princess dress and a latex costume is not particularly vast – both offer an escape from the mundane. By pairing naivety with direct BDSM references, rules within play emerge as protection: keeping dreams from turning into trauma, and making room for autonomy and pleasure.
